  1. Hello Kerem,

First of all, thank you very much for Begone; it’s an excellent app ! Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked for me since iOS 18.6. It’s indeed possible to block number ranges like +33 4 24 50 XX XX, but higher ranges, like +33 4 24 XX XX XX or +33 4 24 5X XX XX, are no longer blocked at all. I tried it on two iPhones running iOS 18.6 and had the same problem.

Thank you in advance for your feedback and have a nice day!

    1. Hi Pierre, can you test adding to the “directory” section of the app instead of “blocked” to see if it identifies the numbers when you use more than 4 wildcards?

      1. Hello Kerem, indeed the bug has been fixed in release 7.5 — I just ran some tests! Thank you so much for the speed and quality of this application!

          1. Hello Kerem,

Sorry, but I’m noticing something strange. When I add a mask like +33 4 72 XX XX XX to the “Blocked” list, any number from that range is indeed blocked — a fix from version 7.5. However, after importing the community lists (Complete list of spam numbers in France), the range +33 4 24 XX XX XX was added to the “Blocked” database, yet I’ve just received two calls from numbers in that range and Begone didn’t block them…

I tried deleting the number database, toggling off both options in the Phone app’s call identification settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the app while following all the steps correctly — but the behavior remains the same.

Thanks in advance, have a great day

            1. Can you try adding the ranges yourself one by one? I suspect that iOS sometimes cannot act fast enough if the database has become too big and so cannot block the number.

              1. I don’t really want to add all 678 ranges one by one by hand… but yes, it would be a good idea to develop a sequential range-by-range implementation in the application’s backend so as not to create a “saturation” of the call directory extension during a mass import.
What I did: I downloaded and installed the community list “Complete list of spam in France.”
From the “Rule lists,” I “exported the numbers.” I then split the exported .xml into three 2000-line xml files, which I imported one by one so that I could benefit from the 678 blocking ranges again in “Blocked”… It remains to be seen whether this method will work; I’ll wait for the next spam to find out…

                  1. Hello Kerem,

Good news — the method I described earlier works (while we wait for a more global fix):

                    Here’s what I did:
                    • Installed the community list “Complete Spam List in France” by Simon Perols, version 1.2.
                    • Generated the XML export of this list.
                    • Deleted all numbers in Begone.
                    • Imported the XML containing the 678 number ranges all at once.

Result: 3 calls received from different ranges — all blocked!!!

In parallel, I have another question: on my mother’s phone I’m trying, as best I can, to install the app, but it’s impossible (iPhone 13, iOS 18.6). Indeed, I have activated the two toggles in the iPhone’s call-blocking settings, but when I try to install a list or even manually add a number, I get a message saying the app cannot “reach the call directory extension.” I’ve tried everything suggested in the help section — disabling the toggles, uninstalling the app, restarting, then re-downloading the app — but nothing works, I still get the same error…

Thanks in advance for your feedback,

                    Pierre

                    1. Unfortunately that is a rare but persistent bug in iOS. I have seen it a handful of times and the only fix was an iOS update. So, you’ll need to wait for iOS 18.7 or iOS 26 to correct the issue. You can also remove the app, force restart the device and try again in a few days, but even that did not fix it in one case.

                    2. Oh okay, I see… Her iPhone was on iOS 18.5 when I encountered this bug. I therefore deleted the app, then updated to 18.6 and tried again, but the problem was still there… 🙁 So for now, I’ve completely removed the app due to the lack of a solution. I don’t really want to do a clean install of her iPhone, so I’ll try again with the next iOS update — maybe iOS 26 in September…

                    3. You can try time to time. 😊 I also encountered it with a banking app in my country that uses the same extension to provide branch numbers. I could not enable it for a few weeks and then after an iOS update it started working.

                    4. I managed to do it (promise I’ll stop spamming after this, but if it can help people facing these issues to improve the app or add new elements to the app’s Help menu 😊)
                      Procedure:
                      • Delete the app
                      • Hard reboot the iPhone 13 (volume up, volume down, then hold the power button until it restarts)
                      • Reinstall the app, enable both toggles in the iPhone settings, import the previously exported list in XML, and perform a functional test!

                    5. I thought you tried force reset earlier that’s why I did not mention it. Glad that it worked. It generally fixes the issue but not in very rare cases.

  2. Merhabalar,

        1. Thanks! I’ll add it to the app tomorrow. Can you contact me via email? We’ll need to add a version file for each list so we can track versioning from your GitHub profile.

  3. Hi Erkan,

Thank you so much for all the apps you’ve created, especially Begone and Junkman, 2 excellent tools that work wonders and that I recommend to my friends and family and in the help forums. Great job !!!

    1. It is an app that has been developed and updated constantly for 13 years. All the competing apps from its beginning have gone. So no it is not a mistake. You can download Qrafter for free with no locked functions and pay as little as 1 euro per month to remove ads. Or you can pay 3 years of subscription at once and remove ads for life.

  4. Hi,
Just go to the pro version. Very good App !!!
Question : how can i attach the geo data (Longitude/Latitude) to the CSV file to export to email ?
    Is it possible ?

    Thanks for your answer
    John

  5. Hi Kerem, I tried to generate a micro QR code using a straight ASCII string on your sitee but the site’s not giving me a code…

  6. why can I not set error correction level for Aztec Code from this site??

ECC (Reed Solomon) is part of the Aztec Spec — among other features neither listed nor adjustable on keremerkan.net 🙁

I had to use TAB to navigate down to new comment 😐

  7. Thank you for this great piece of work!

I like very much that I can open the decoded URL in the integrated browser. This way, it is very easy to come back to the next scan, simply by closing the browser window.

But I need Javascript on the sited I call. Is it possible to have Javascript enabled in the integrated browser?

    1. Hi Oliver,

The in-app browser is provided to developers by Apple, so yes, it works nearly the same with Safari including the javascript capabilities.

  8. Hi, your app is awesome, i purchase it ! In a next version, could we scan barcode ?
Because i try and it does’nt work, it’s annoying to switch between 2 scan app, to scan 2 type of code…

    Thx.

  9. Your application works great and I think it would solve a problem for us. We are wanting to generate a QR Code with each of our members as they register to attend our annual conference. Of course, we then would like to print that QR on their name badges. We are a non-profit group that has about 2000 attendees each year. Is there a way we can buy or license from you your converter to embed into our registration program?

    Thanks,

    Bob Kibler
    President
    Gulf Coast Conference

    1. Interweb search: libdecodeqr0

But it’d be silly to use qr code simply because everyone if jumping from that bridge. Your badges would be far more resilient with Aztec Code, ISO 24778

which is available in a limited form here at keremerkan.net

  10. Hi, a fantastic application – very quick and easy to use – thanks! It would be really cool to be able to read/create other types of bar code too – e.g. code 128 types etc Do you have any plans to extend the application to this?

    Thanks again.

      1. It would be excellent as a freeware android- and iphone app especially if it operated locally (zero interweb interaction)

[adware is the opposite of free…. for those unaware of the distinction or unfamiliar with the word “free” (no cost). third party hosted ads are a COST to privacy- and security]

        1. If ads are not suitable for you, you have the option to buy the app. There is no such thing as a complete “freeware”, the author of any free software has to have the ability to provide himself/herself the necessary means to live, which is, “money”. For most smartphone apps, free means ad supported.

  11. Hi, I noticed that the ipad app (pro) has the ability to create a qr code for facebook. Is this correct?
I noticed on your website the facebook function isn’t available. Will this be made available in the near future?
I am looking at buying you pro version. Cheers.

  12. hello, when i generate a vcard the titles for work phone and work fax are the same, they both come up as [Work Tel:] is there any way to fix this?
